Literature Price Changes effective July 1, 2011

Please note: all items that can be ordered through the ASC, except the Basic Text, will have a 5% price increase beginning in July. Also, California sales tax will decrease by 1% starting in July as well. The prices in the online order form and price list PDF will be changed in time to order for the next ASC.

Area Service Committee – June 2011

Nicole H is our new Activities Chair. Congratulations, Nicole!

The following area-level commitments are still open:

Vice Treasurer
Prerequisites:

  • 4 years clean
  • Spreadsheet ability
  • Understanding of bank reconciliations
  • Online access for banking on secure computer
  • Willingness to step up to Treasurer Commitment if elected

Duties:

  • Assists treasurer in all duties as needed or delegated.
  • Co-signer on ASC bank account.

Regional NA Youth Committee (NAYC) Representative

Prerequisites:

  • 1 year clean
  • An active interest in the issues confronting young people recovering in Southern California NA

Duties:

  • Attends monthly NAYC meeting as liaison between the NAYC and the area
  • Either calls in report or reports back by email a month later (NAYC meeting is at same time as the GHASC)

Unity Day Subcommittee – June 2011

Subcommittee is now accepting submissions for logo and theme.

Seeking people with prior Unity Day experience to step back up to help smooth transition to the new facility for the next Unity Day.

Need people to fill a variety of positions with varying requirements of skill levels, clean times. Elected positions still open include secretary, merchandise, vice chair, entertainment, hospitality.

Next meeting July 24th 2PM at Plummer Park, 7377 Santa Monica Blvd.

Public Relations Subcommittee – June 2011

PR subcommittee needs a vice chair and secretary, and members at large to support the committee. PR will have booth at Sunset Junction. Anyone interested in volunteering at the booth, email Eric at pr [@] hollywoodna.org Next meeting is July 11th, 8PM, at Covenant House, 1325 North Western Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90028 (upstairs).

Hospitals & Institutions Subcommittee – June 2011

Currently has 4 open panels: 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00pm at Gateways Satellite, 5th Monday at 7:00pm at Volunteers of America, and the 3rd and 4th Thursdays at 7:00pm at Star House (women only for this location).

You need at least 1 year clean and 6 months H&I experience to lead a panel, and 6 months clean to speak on one. If you are interested in being a panel leader or speaking on a panel, please come to the subcommittee meeting.

Committee still needs a Vice Chair and Secretary.

Next meeting will be Monday, July 4th, 2011, at 7:00pm at Covenant House, 1325 N. Western.

  • Have you ever gone through the steps on a particular issue or area of your life? Was it painful? Freeing? Both?
  • Are you procrastinating with either Step Four or Step Nine? What are your fears? Voicing them in the newsletter might just help you move forward.
  • If you had to pick one paragraph from all of NA’s step literature, which would be your favorite? Why? How does it speak to you?
